ABOUT
Kaye Fleming Design opened in 1998, and since then she's designed interiors for numerous high-end residential and hospitality clients. She has been a designer with Opus One Winery for thirteen years, including two Tasting Rooms and embarking on the other facets of her business, Branded Display and Custom Gifts. She most recently completed the Tokalon Tasting Room at Robert Mondavi Winery.
Kaye began her design career working for a Purchasing Agency during the Boutique Hotel boom in the early 1990's, where she learned the business end of design. Working directly with mills and manufacturers to purchase large quantities of custom furniture, carpeting, fabric runs, Kaye memorized hotel fire codes, absorbed an encyclopedia of fabric and fabrication knowledge and learned to manage large budgets. Following her love of design she then attended the Academy of Art in San Francisco. This led to a position as a junior designer for the renowned design firm Babey Moulton, where she was exposed to world-class, high-end residential and hotel design.
Kaye has also worked in the professional yachting industry on private luxury yachts and long distance ocean racing campaigns. She traveled in a world of international yacht owners and luxury lifestyles, which took her to Australia, South Africa, Brazil, England, Mexico, the Caribbean and the East Coast of the US. She would eventually segue this into designing the interior and crew gear of a German owned 80' Maxi Racing Yacht and the branding identity and crew gear package for a Chilean Racing Yacht.
Returning home to the Bay Area, her path led to a job as a senior designer at Fun Display!, now C. Walters Design. Working with in-house custom fabrication, she joined a team that created some of the most noteworthy nightclubs, bars and boutique hotels of the decade.
Kaye now lives a sustainable lifestyle in Bolinas, California, where she draws her inspiration from nature and the wild Pacific coast.
